Racing Pigeon Feed

What are you putting in your racing pigeon feed?

The nutrition of your racing pigeon is one of the most important factors of racing.

It is something you need to constantly learn about and consult professionals of the daily requirements of your racing pigeon.

The basic 4 components of the nutritional requirements of pigeons are protein, energy, vitamins and minerals. All of this can be found in properly made racing pigeon feed. Which consist mostly of different types of grain.

Grain is usually a big part of the diet. Now you can’t cheap out on this, you need very good quality grain. And it will be more expensive than the usual stuff. This is because the good quality doesn’t have any moisture in it, as well it avoids the toxins that can be found in the cheaper grain.

You will want racing pigeon feed that has more protein in it in the breeding season, as they will need it for their off springs. However, during training and races they will be expelling tons of energy, so make sure the feed has good amounts of carbohydrates and fats so they can have energy to use, and store.

Another popular choice is using pellets, which are pre-made with a balanced diet for the pigeons. This is especially useful in the breeding season. This might be a choice for you if you don’t have much time to gather the proper feed, or want to try and use different amounts of grain, safflower, seeds etc to give the pigeons adequate nutrition. Pellets are much easier, especially for beginners. So either using pellets with other things such as raw peanuts, peas, what ever you choose might work to give the pigeons lots of energy for racing season. Or completely making your own combination to fit your needs is something experience fanciers do, or fanciers with more time.

There are many vitamins and supplements that you can buy to improve your pigeon’s health and use in combination with your racing pigeon feed. You can find that in the nutrition guide for a detailed look.

Racing pigeon feeding can make your pigeon faster without any other changes in their training.

You will see benefits such as:

  • faster pigeons
  • stronger pigeons
  • healthier pigeons
  • consecutive wins
  • breed with more positive results
  • improved endurance

Another bonus is that the more they win, the more money you possibly can make!
